1 Year

My friends, it has been one short year since I started at ASAP Fitness. One year ago I was hopeless. I was hopeless because I didn’t know if I would make it. I was hopeless because all I wanted to do was coach Crossfit. All I wanted to do was wake up and make a difference. All I wanted to do was help grow a business. All I wanted to do was provide value to my community, and the people around me. All I wanted to do was wake up and feel free. Feel free from the world, feel free from a 9-5 job, and feel free from society’s expectations.
I vividly remember the week before I coached my first class at ASAP Stockton. I printed out a handful of copies of my resume and went to every gym in the Sacramento area asking them to take a chance on me. Mentally drained, despaired, but ready to work, and ready to make a difference. I waited. No returned calls, no returned emails, and no scheduled intro classes. Until one message changed my life. It was the perfect start, and the perfect ending to my search for a gym that would believe in me, and believe in my coaching.
Thank you Anthony Malta for believing in me, and for letting me lead. Thank you for taking a chance on me and letting me show you the kind of professional you want for your business. Thank you for calling me right away after I sent you a facebook message. Thank you for inviting me to workout with you the next day with you, Craig, Kevin, Daniel, and Single Dad Mike. Thank you for letting me coach at ASAP Stockton for my first intro class where I got to meet the community, and where I could show you the value that I could provide to your business. I am forever grateful to be a a part of your team, and I am forever grateful for what you have done for me, I will never forget it.
Thank you Josh Gibson for being the mentor that I always wanted. After college I was in search for someone like you. Someone that could show me how to be a fitness professional, someone that could show me how to properly coach a movement and break each movement down to a specific part, and someone that could show me how to properly run a business with satisfied people. I remember my first day at ASAP Sacramento as a coach. You gave me the keys and said enjoy your first day. You left, and I was ready. I knew what I had to do. I instantly fell in love because you trusted my coaching, and you trusted my leadership. You trusted that I could get the job done and I did. There was nothing more that I loved than learning from you and hanging out with you every day for the next 7 months, you helped make me who I am now. I won’t ever be able to repay you for what you have done for me, thank you.
Thank you to ASAP Sacramento for allowing me to be a part of your journey. Thank you for allowing me to show you how to become the best version of yourself, and how to view your Health&Fitness. Thank you for the friendships we have made, the lunches we have scheduled, the conversations we have had, and the memories I won’t ever forget. You have all changed my life, and I cannot wait to share many more with you all. I care so much about each and every one of you. The majority of my thoughts are consumed by you all and how I can provide you all more value. Thank you all for being in my life.
It took me 3 years to make Crossfit a career. Gym to gym, commute to commute, barbell to barbell. I can count in my hands how many times I have gone out in Sacramento on the weekends these last 4 years. I can’t count how many times I have worked out on my own. I can’t count how many times I have coached. I can’t count how many times I have said no to going out, or how many times I’ve been asked why I workout so much.
I am in love with the hustle. I am in love with the grind. I am in love with growing a business and getting better as a coach, and fitness professional. I am never tired. I don’t care about the money. I care about being Happy, and being healthy for as long as I’m alive. I don’t care that I drive a 99 Toyota Camry. I don’t care that I live in a back house by myself with no furniture. I’m debt free. I feel free. I wake up every day ready to grind, ready to make a difference, ready to get better. I’m all in. Go out and do what you love. Go out and follow your dreams. Go out and take care of your health. It’s you vs. you. Nobody else defines you. One year can change your life, never give up.
